Awesome historic location. Nicely restored historic building. Small eating area inside but huge outside dining area with fans. Surprisingly, the entrance was on the back side of the parking lot. The servers were friendly and knowledgeable, providing excellent details to help unsure customers make the right choices. While the staff was friendly, there was a large number of team members who seemed oblivious to ensuring the customers had a top knock experience. Ex we were without drinks for 16 min before asking someone for a refill while 6 team members walked in the vicinity of our table. The food was amazing. The ribs were tender, and were fall off the bone and were extremely juicy with amazing flavor. The green beans and mushrooms could have used a better mushrooms to green bean ratio. The spinach and strawberry salad was great, except it really didn't need white onions. They were way too overpowering. Would we go back? Absolutely.
Four stars but five stars for almost everything.
The Salmon was perfectly cooked, and delicious.
The appetizers, a great selection.
Four stars because it's a little loud; hard for conversation.
Minimum to no after-dinner drinks (Sambuka or Frangelico.
Food and service was so good! Blackened and fried grouper sandwich was hands down one of the best we've had. Josh was so helpful and really friendly. We will definitely be back!
We went there yesterday for Sunday Brunch. We had an 11:00 reservation and got right in. We ordered two starters and while we were eating those, our entrees arrived. We do not eat slow, but within minutes, our table was packed with food. It's common restaurant etiquette to allow people to finish one course before bringing the next. I thought it was an anomaly, but I saw the same at several other tables. I know they are trying to turn tables quickly, but we were in and out in 36 minutes and there was no waiting when we left.
We had the Fred Green Tomatoes, Fried Oyster Basket, Shrimp and Grits with a side of Collards and Shrimp Etoufee over Dirty Rice with a side of Red Beans and Rice. It was obviously waaay to much for two people, so we had tons for dinner too. They were all really delicious...especially the Etoufee and Shrimp and Grits!!
Awesome restaurant, great location and tons of free parking. Just don't order an entire until you're ready for it in 30 seconds
I wanted to let you know that I thoroughly enjoyed my dining experience at SASS. The service was exceptional, and the dinner was simply delightful. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great dining experience.
We were seated immediately. Table was set and utensils clean. Food was good and brought out warm. Meals were promptly cooked to order and brought out. Plates were presented well. Service was okay. Waters were not refilled unless asked for. Bar drinks were slow to come out without explanation (it was busy but it's nice for wait staff to acknowledge this). Checking out was slow. SASS has a small kids menu and high chairs but the kid friendliness ends there. I would recommend this place but more for an adult date night than a family outing.
Amazing cajun food with a vibrant and historic atmosphere. Reccomend eating outside on the platform along the traintracks. It is decorated with beautiful greenery and floral. Josh was our waiter and he was phenomenal. We had green tomatoes, the glazed salmon, blackened shrimp, potato Casserole, dirty rice and bread pudding. I would definitely order again. The pread pudding comes with pecans instead of raisins which is now my new preference!
It is always a pleasure to host a party or eat a meal at SASS. The staff are friendly and wonderfully accommodating.
